Who is not familiar with Google? His name in the world of technology, no doubt, and its products are almost inseparable from human life today.
But that does not mean the products produced by Google are all successful. There are several Google products that fail miserably, one of the reasons is the lack of users.

The following is a list of failed Google products, quoted from the Android Authority, Wednesday (5/10/2022).

1. Google Talk (2005 - 2017)

Prior to Hangouts, Allo, Messages, and Duo, the Mountain View-based company owned Google Talk, the first and possibly best messaging app from Google.

This service is free and integrated into Gmail, allowing you to send and receive instant messages within the Google email client from any device. There is also a Google Talk app for Android, Windows, and Blackberry phones. Users can even use Talk to make video calls with a paid Google Voice account.

However, times changed, and Google's desire to integrate everything through Google Plus, and slowly the app was phased out which later evolved into a per-focused app.

2. Google Spaces (2016 - 2017)

Another Google messaging app that is dying fast is Spaces. It allows users to create private group chats to share links, photos, and videos. The big selling point is the direct integration with YouTube, Chrome, and Search.

But this application seems less attractive, users prefer to use Messenger, WhatsApp, and other social apps that don't belong to Facebook. The service officially closed in April 2019.

3. Gmail Inbox (2014 - 2019)

Google launched Inbox as a more experimental branch of Gmail. Innovative features like Smart Reply, snoozing, bundling, and more give the Inbox app an AI-powered edge over standard Gmail - at least until 2018.

But Gmail's update and redesign incorporates most of the features in Inbox. Even though it promised that the product would run as usual, it didn't go well. Inbox finally closed for good in March 2019.

4. Chromecast Audio (2015 - 2019)

Chromecast Audio is an offshoot of Google's famous media caster that lets users siphon digital music libraries onto non-smart speakers via the 3.5 mm jack or mini-TOSLINK jack. Chromecast Audio was discontinued in January 2019.

5. Google Play Music (2011 - 2020)

Google decided to simplify its service and replace Google Play Music with YouTube Music in 2020. Play Music It was finally euthanized in 2020 and users had to switch to YouTube Music, or another service.

6. Google Desktop (2004 - 2011)

This is a sidebar program that users can install on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Google desktop places a search toolbox on your desktop to scan through local files, and offers quick access to the clock, weather, news feed, Gmail, and photos stored locally on PC.

Google is shutting down Desktop as it's starting to focus more on cloud storage.
